Fujian Provincial Library reader card holders are entitled to the following services to the extent according to their deposit amounts.

1. Borrowing quantity

a. Books: equivalent to deposit amount, no limit on quantity.

b. Chinese periodicals: 5

c. Foreign periodicals: 3

d. Audio-visual materials: 1 set plus 5 singles or 2 sets

2. Borrowing duration

a. 21 days for books. 2 renewals, each for 21 days starting from day of successful renewal.

b. 7 days for single Chinese periodicals. 2 renewals, each for 7 days starting from end of lease.

c. 21 for foreign periodicals. 2 renewals, each for 21 days starting from day of successful renewal.

d. 15 days for audio-visual materials. No renewal is allowed.

3. Circulation methods

a. Proceed to relevant service counters on 1st to 4th floors of the library.

b. Use self-service circulation machines to borrow and return Chinese books.

c. Use 24hr self-service circulation machines out of the library to borrow and return Chinese books.

d. The free-interlibrary-loan card holder may borrow and return Chinese books in any member library of Fujian Provincial Library.

Reminder: check carefully before checking out. Report to the staff any missing pages or damage. Verify the circulation list carefully for book names, barcode numbers, and actual number of books borrowed. Keep the list for later check.

4. Renewal methods

a. Proceed to relevant service counters on 1st to 4th floors of the library.

b. 24hr voice call: 0591-87508732, 0591-87508667.

c. Log on the library’s website: http://www.fjlib.net, and click “My Library”.

d. Use self-service circulation machines in and out of the library.

e. To renew Chinese periodicals, call the periodical lending room during its opening hours: 13960926800 or 87508548-3103.

f. To renew foreign periodicals, call the foreign periodical lending room during its opening hours: 87508548-2401.

No renewal is allowed under the following conditions: under appointment, borrowing overdue, exceeding the number of times for renewal, incorrect input of reader card number, password, or barcode number, or failure to pay overdue fees.

5. Overdue, damage, or loss

a. Return documents on time. For overdue books and periodicals, a late fee of 0.10 RMB per day is charged for every item everyday, the maximum limit being 10 RMB. For audio-visual materials, a late fee of 1.00 RMB is charged for every item everyday.

b. Take good care of documents. In the event of slight defacing without serious effect on continued use, the staff will decide on compensation according to the situation. Serious damage affecting the integrity of content and going beyond repair shall be treated as a loss.

c. Take good care of borrowed documents. In case of loss, compensation shall be made at 2-10 times of the original price. Readers may choose to buy on their own documents of the same version as replacements. The minimum compensation for a lost document is 20 RMB.

d. Fujian Provincial Library Regulations on Handling Readers’ Violations shall apply in case of intentional document damage or theft.

e. In the event of a violation, the use of the reader card in question shall be suspended prior to undergoing relevant formalities.

f. Method of payment: proceed to the relevant circulation service counter or the Urban Neighborhood 24hr Self-Service Library.

6. Document appointment

a. Appointment is possible only when a document is lent out.

b. Appointment can be made for only one item at a time.

c. After the document under appointment is returned, the reader will be informed and the document will be retained for 7 days.

d. Appointment can be made at a circulation point, on the library website, or at a 24hr self-service circulation machine.
